    Best AI newsletter writing tools

Seven tools that write the issue. Alphabetical, so the order is not a score. Each "best for" line is copied from that tool's comparison on this site.

This page is about writing the newsletter: the draft, the voice, and the blank page. It leaves out done-for-you services, association email platforms, and the AI built into a sending platform. Those sit on the creator-tools roundup.

Nothing here is a rating. There is no star score and no review quote. If a price or a feature is missing from the comparison page, it is missing here too.

    ChatGPT

    Best for

You write one newsletter every few months and a $39/mo dedicated tool isn't justified.

    • You use ChatGPT for many things beyond newsletters and don't want a single-purpose tool.
    • Your newsletter is brand new and you don't have past issues for HeyNews to train on (and you're not on a platform with archive import).

    Price on the comparison page

    $20/mo Plus

ChatGPT details are according to ChatGPT's pricing page, OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus help article, OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro tiers help article, OpenAI's ChatGPT Business help article, OpenAI's custom instructions help article, OpenAI's Projects help article, OpenAI's GPTs help article, OpenAI's scheduled tasks help article, ChatGPT's web search docs, and beehiiv's plugin page in ChatGPT (checked October 11, 2026).

Where HeyNews is the wrong fit

    • Your newsletter is occasional and the cost of a $39/mo dedicated tool isn't justified. Comparison
    • You enjoy the prompt-engineering process and want full manual control of every step. Comparison
    • You do not have a strong existing newsletter archive on a platform like beehiiv or Substack to train on. Comparison
    • LetterPal's own pages come back with a plan that fits your newsletter better. Check it there first. Comparison
    • You do not have an archive of past issues yet, so voice training would not have much to train on. Comparison

    How to choose

    • If the newsletter is one format among ads, blogs, and landing pages, start with Jasper, Copy.ai, or ChatGPT.
    • If you want the writing tool and the sending platform in one product, and you will move your list, read the Hoppy Copy comparison.
    • If you already send on beehiiv, Kit, Substack, Ghost, Mailchimp, or Medium and the weekly draft is the job, read how HeyNews works, then the comparison for the tool you use now.

    FAQ

    Is this a ranking?

No. The names are alphabetical. "Best for" means the job that tool fits, copied from its comparison page. There is no score.

Why are other AI writers missing?

This list only includes tools that already have a comparison page here, plus HeyNews. A missing name means that comparison is not published, not that the tool lost.

Where do the prices come from?

From the comparison page linked on the entry. That page cites the other product's own site. LetterPal's price is the line our page already uses: its help center is paused, so the price is not listed.

Where is HeyNews the wrong writing tool?

When the newsletter is occasional, when you have no archive to train on, when you want one workspace for ads and landing pages, or when you want the ESP bundled in. Those cases are listed above, in the words of the comparison pages.

    What is the HeyNews trial?

14 days or 5 generated issues, whichever comes first. Your card is charged on day 14 unless you cancel.

If the draft is the job, start there.

HeyNews trains on issues you have already sent. You review the draft before it goes out.
