Who qualifies
Eligibility comes down to one email address.
- HeyNews checks the Billing Owner's own account email. A teammate's school address doesn't qualify the account.
- The email has to be verified in HeyNews. The discount shows only after you verify it.
- Addresses ending in .edu qualify, and so do supported US K-12 school domains and national school and university domains such as .ac.uk, .edu.au and .edu.tr.
- Some schools use ordinary email domains, and those don't qualify yet. Not every school, student or teacher address is covered, and the app makes the final check.

How the discount is billed
Checkout shows the amount due before you confirm. These are the rules behind it.
- 40% off the plan price for your first 12 paid months.
- A free trial doesn't use any of those months. The 12 months start with your first paid invoice.
- Monthly billing: each of your first 12 monthly payments is 40% off.
- Yearly billing: your first yearly payment is 40% off, with or without a trial before it. The yearly price already includes the standard yearly saving, and the 40% comes off that price. The next yearly renewal is at the standard price.
- When the discounted period ends, your plan continues at its standard price.
- The discount covers the plan only. Add-ons stay at their standard prices.
- The education discount replaces any other discount code. The two don't combine.
- The discount applies when you start a new subscription. Changing your plan or billing cycle later doesn't start a new discount.
- There's no code to enter. HeyNews applies the discount at checkout when the account qualifies.

Who qualifies for the education discount?

Does the free trial count toward the 12 months?
No. The 12 discounted months start with your first paid invoice, so trial days don't use any of them.

Are add-ons discounted?
No. The discount covers the plan only, and add-ons stay at their standard prices.
Can I combine it with another discount code?
No. The education discount replaces any other discount code.
I already have a subscription. Will changing my plan start the discount?
